Having a Bosch sliding compound miter saw is being able to work with no compromises. Unlike some other company saws, the Bosch GCM12SD 12-Inch Dual-Bevel Glide Miter Saw is a precision tool ready for what comes its way.

Bosch Sliding Compound Miter Saw

bosch sliding compound miter sawThrough the years before starting my company TD Remodeling I have used Bosch home improvement hand tools and since my business, I have made sure I carry a selection of Bosch tools. Bosch is no stranger to providing high quality, durable tools that any contractor or home user would be proud to own.

The Bosch GCM12SD is a 12-Inch Dual-Bevel Glide Miter Saw utilizes easy upfront controls that have an easy to read miter and bevel scales with all the standard detents for angles. This 12-inch sliding saw also offers a large cutting capacity with a vacuum adapter for sawdust and debris discharge to help keep the workspace clean during operation. A soft-grip ambidextrous handle and pre-aligned square lock fences ensure the saw keeps it precision performance throughout its lifetime of use. These features, along with Bosch’s exclusive Axial-Glide System, allows the saw to be placed closer to the wall when in tight spaces and capable of cutting with precision each and every time, giving an accurate, smooth cutting motion through the product.

Bosch’s Motor

The Bosch sliding compound miter saw has a 15 amp motor that makes precision cuts through many different materials by delivering no-load speeds of 3,800 rpm. The saw has a 14-inch horizontal capability with a 6-1/2-inch vertical for material aginst either the fence or base ability. At a 45 degree placement for crown molding, the saw can cut 6-1/2-inches as well making th Bosch sliding saw very versatile for many applications in the line of cutting.

The saw is compatible with many different 12-inch blades and uses a clear lower guard for unobstructed viewing while making cuts. The saw also features adjustable support with two sliding integrated base extensions for materials measuring up to 40-inches long.

The Compact Axial-Glide System

Because the Axial-Glide System does not work like any of the traditional sliding radial arm saws, it takes up 12-inches less space in the work area when placed against the wall. The Bosch-exclusive Axial-Glide System was designed to give complete control over the saw’s cutting action, making sure there is always a smooth cut through the material you’re working with at the time.

Quick Release Squarelock Fences

For a fast and easy, precise alignment, Bosch designed the Quick Release Squarelock Fence system. They require no adjustments as they are aligned at 90-degrees to the saw’s tabletop giving you the ability to slide or place your material on the saw then slide the fence into position. The design of the quick-release fences have a one-touch lock/unlock system to clamp the material being cut into place allowing for better accuracy of the product not shifting when proceeding with a cut.

Up-Front Bevel Controls and Marked Detents

With a high visibility dual-bevel scale you can adjust the bevel detents for 0, 33.9, and 45 degrees in either direction left or right. The bevel allows for cuts that range from 0 to 47 degrees in either direction left and right with marked settings for roof pitch and other common angles easy to set with the marked detents on the scale.

Contractors like myself and others all know the quality and precision that Bosch create all their tools to have and this Bosch sliding compound miter saw is no exception to the rule. For just about anyone who purchases a product as good as this one, the odds are you’ll never need another to replace it. It comes down that people just want to upgrade to the latest and greatest with all the bells and whistles. Truth be known, once you have the opportunity to own this kind of equipment, your usually better off adding other tools to your collection. Especially if your not a contractor that doesn’t put the tools too heavy use. When you buy this type of quality, you’re pretty much good for life.

  1. This is a great review of the Bosch miter saw. I once had dreams of my own little workshop, but other responsibilities put that dream to rest. A few months ago, I sold many of the tools that I had accumulated over the years, but one tool that I did keep was my miter saw. A miter saw is invaluable for so many projects around the house and it sounds like Bosch makes a great one.

    • Bosch does make an excellent miter saw, but you’ll also see that I have a few of the top contenders from different companies. Like you had mentioned you’re miter saw can perform a lot of useful work around the house when it comes time to needing materials cut.

There comes a time when we must all downsize our tools; it’s just a matter of when and why. Keeping your miter saw will still allow for you to do quite a few projects around the house and make quick work of them.
